Concrete
Perpendicular Verification Device
Meets ASTM C-39 specification.
The Perpendicular Verification Device is used to verify the alignment of 6" x 12" and 4" x 8" concrete cylinders when using un-bonded caps, as required by ASTM C-39. The device rests on the lower platen of the compression machine, avoiding contact with your retainer rings.
Simply center the specimen with retainer rings and pads in the compression machine, apply a load equal to less than 10% of the anticipated strength and pause or hold the test. Place the verification device on the lower platen and slide it against the specimen. Use the provided gap measurement tool along the edge of the device to verify there are no gaps large enough to allow the tool to pass. If the cylinder is out of alignment, release the load and re-center the specimen. Reapply the load and recheck centering and alignment.
